A small port town that evokes nostalgia.
What exists there is a residential area that lights up at dusk,
with no stylish beaches, only fishing boats in the harbor.
The young people who were born and raised here,
mostly leave the town for further education or employment.
There are no large shopping malls like in the city,
but it’s not so rural that everyone you pass is a familiar face.

The story of the girls living in a small town at the northern edge,
near Aomori City, is illustrated and poetically depicted by
the up-and-coming illustrator Michiko Soma.
The short film “Girls of the Ripple” has fortunately been screened at film festivals around the world.
